Monterey Luxe Paper Gift Box

Hey there! I'm back from another fun weekend! I hope all of you had a wonderful one as well. Mine was full of football, good food and beautiful weather. October just makes me happy!

Today's project is such fun and versatile one. I love how my project turned out using the Craft Smith Monterey Luxe paper pad. This is such a unique line of paper. I love the wood grains, geometric shapes and clean designs. It is modern without feeling too abstract. And I feel like there really isn't anything like it out there in the paper world!

I created a handmade box out of one sheet of 12x12 paper. This is how it turned out, all tied up with some twine and a tag! First, let me show you how to make the box.

You really just need a 12x12 piece of paper, pencil, ruler and a scoring tool. I used a bone folder flat against my ruler and it worked great. First, cut your paper down to 8 1/2x10. Using my photo as a guide, make a horizontal line every 1 inch along the long side to make 10 rows. Then going the vertical way, you will make 2 lines: a the 2 inch mark and then the 6 1/2 inch mark. Where the X's are, you will be cutting away and discarding so it ends up looking like this:

The pink lines are where you will be SCORING. The doted blue lines are where you will be CUTTING. From this point, you will fold the box up to create a base with an attached hinged lid.

I used a liquid adhesive to glue the box together, first by folding up the sides of the base and glueing. After the base is made you really just fold it all over and lay it flat as the box lid. Super easy. You could use this template for so many different things!

I finished my box off with a "belly band" that can slide on and off and a fun tag. The "Happy Every Thing" was cut out of one of the sheets of Monterey Luxe paper and glued on a Craft Smith Burlap Circle Tag from Michaels. I trimmed the bottom of the circle tag to match the hexagon shape.

And what's inside?? Pumpkin bread of course! It's a must this time of year. HERE is my easy recipe that my family loves. It just isn't fall until I make Pumpkin Bread! ;)

Have a great day my Craft Smith Crafters!
