The Gift of Handmade Cards + GIVEAWAY

Hey there! I hope everyone is having a great week and getting lots of "real life" and "craft life" things accomplished! Sometimes that is how I look at my life and I kind of like it that way. My "craft" life gives me a much needed balance from my "real" life and I bet some of you would agree. I really do love this hobby and the creative freedom it gives me.

And I am still LOVING all of my Craft Smith goodies! We have more NEW paper coming out this August! And some of our super popular "limited time only" pads are making a quick comeback in a couple weeks. More on that soon!

I was so happy when I heard that the Craft Smith Textured Basics paper would be back at Michaels for another run. This has really been one of my favorites, I reach for it time and time again. If I am looking for some basic prints and awesome colors, I always find what I am looking for in this paper pad. And the texture on this one is my FAVORITE! It's a linen texture and it gives the paper such a great look and feel.

One of my favorite gifts to give is a set of handmade cards. I think it's because so many people don't make cards anymore! And so many  people don't GIVE cards anymore. The technology era has made it easier to email or text someone a greeting but there is nothing more special than a signed card.

This is a set that I made using some kraft paper and the Textured Basics paper pad. For the card base, I used a grey/tan cardstock from the Craft Smith Neutrals Cardstock pack. I added some Kraft paper to the fronts as a base to my fun leafs. I hand cut these out of my Textured Basics paper because sometimes, it's just easier to hand cut something lol! I didn't want them to be perfect so I cut one out and then used it as a template to cut all the others out.

I inked the edges of the leafs with a super light brown and glued them down, only adhering them with a VERY light glue down the middle. I wanted to make sure to keep the sides not glued down so I could fold them up. I did a quick straight stitch down the middle of each leaf, added some epoxy stickers and twine and a simple message on the bottom.

I love that a card like this could have any greeting. The same sweet card was used here for a birthday card, sympathy card, "thank you card" and "get well soon" card. Stacking them all together with envelopes and tying with some bakers twine makes it a perfect, simple gift.

Next time you have a small gift to give, think about giving a gift of handmade cards. I promise it's a gift that never goes out of style!

I think it's time for a Craft Smith Giveaway! We will be giving TWO Craft Smith Goodie Boxes! One winner will be picked on our Facebook page under the "Giveaway" tab.
