Why hello there my Craft Smith Crafters!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Did you notice that we snuck away for a quick little Spring Break getaway?? We only had a couple days away from work and knew we needed to stick around close to home, but wanted to do something fun for the boys. So against ALL OF MY ANXIETIES (and there are a lot of them) we decided to pick from a hat where we would go! Each of us put 2 places in the hat and promised that as long as I could find a hotel, we would make the trip happen. (The National & State Parks around us have hotels book up super fast this time of year!) These were the places in the running...
Seriously, this killed me! I am such a planner and control freak but since it was only a week before leaving, I felt like we had to be spontaneous or stay home! Notice my husband added "Stay Home" as one of his entires! Who does that?! Oh my husband does, good thing that wasn't what was picked. The lucky winner was "Soutpoint" which is a hotel/resort in Las Vegas, a couple miles south of the Strip. The boys have stayed there as a pit stop on the way to California but always wanted to stay and play in "Vegasland"! So this turned out to be the perfect getaway, only 4.5 hours from home.
I was surprised how much there was to do with the kids in Las Vegas. We have been there tons with adults and know how crazy it can be. But we managed to keep the weekend pretty tame and family friendly. We went to the Titanic Exhibit, a big nice aquarium, the Coca Cola and M&M Stores, lots of time at the pool and tons more. We really had a great trip and it's always nice coming home.
On my drive home I was brainstorming what I wanted to create this week for my blog posts. I love this part of my job! I love being creative and this gig with Craft Smith really does give me the best of all the worlds that I love. Crafting, writing, inspiring, communicating with our customers, looking for new product and trend ideas. Every day is fun!
There was an entire end cap of products that went with my Fuji Instax Camera. I remembered this little gold photo album that I picked up at Michaels probably a month ago. It was one of those purchases that just happened to pop into my basket. Does that happen to anyone else??
This is the little album. It's meant to hold the Fuji Instax photos. (See above photo of camera and film) I have had my little camera for over a year and I love it!!!! It is one of those things that starts conversations and is fun to use.
So the album was super basic and for most people you could just fill it with photos and be done. But I wanted to make it a little more special! My sweet Grandma lives in New Orleans and we don't get to see her very often. I thought it would be fun to send her the album and then every month or so, mail her a couple photos of the kids to put in the album.
I couldn't love the result any more! I used paper from the Craft Smith Sweet Soiree paper pad, these colors are so perfect for spring. I just cut down one piece of paper to the 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 size and then added my own embellishments. I cut the "Nana" with my Silhouette, I used one of the Sweet Soiree sheets and lined it up so just the bottom of the letters had glitter. Then I just added stickers, buttons and twine. Super simple.
For the inside, I just added a strip of washi tape to each page. I just like how it adds a little color without adding any bulk to the mini album.
I asked the boys what they wanted in their pictures and this is what they chose. Funny boys! I used an old Recollections date stamp that I had, I thought it was a fun touch.
I think our Nana is going to love this! My favorite part of being a crafter is making gifts that I know people will love and appreciate. There is just something about a homemade gift.
Let me know what you think of our Instax Album and don't forget you can pick up your own Craft Smith Sweet Soiree paper right now at Michaels. This is one of our Hot Buys which means Limited Edition so don't wait too long!
